Gino’s love for racing ignited in the ’70s and ’80s, fueled by his parents’ introduction to Quarter Midget racing. This early passion never dimmed, even as he explored other adventures like dirt biking, jet skiing, and rock climbing. However, the racetrack always called him back.
In the spring of 2022, Gino made a pivital decision: he bought a used kart and joined Kartplex, a renowned racing facility in the heart of Oliver. His journey began with intense practice and a commitment to improving his fitness. With unwavering support from his wife, he shed 30-40 pounds and reclaimed his health in just a few months.
As his confidence grew, Gino invested in a new kart chassis and engine package, choosing to compete in the DD2 kart class. His ultimate goal? To represent Canada at the World Championships in Bahrain by winning the Canadian Championships.
Gino’s dedication led him to acquire a second kart for the Masters Rotax group, consistently ranking in the top ten at local events. The Canadian Championships proved a tough challenge, but Gino, a self-funded privateer, persevered, leaving his mark among elite racers.
In a remarkable achievement, Gino ran both karts in two classes, winning the DD2 class and performing well in the Master’s class, with his wife’s support as his logistical manager.
